ReCat4Polymer is a four-year long research project, funded by the Trond Mohn Foundation (TMS) and the University of Bergen (UiB). The project includes two PhD positions and one researcher position. The project PI is Dr Mali Husby Rosnes, associate professor at the Department of Chemistry, UiB. There are also openings for BSc and MSc projects, so do not hesitate to contact us at Mali.Rosnes(at)uib.no.

ReCat4Polymer has several local collaborations at the Department of Chemistry, and is part of the thematic research group “Sustainable Energy Carriers, Chemicals, and Materials”.

I have a PhD in Chemistry from the School of Chemistry at the University of Glasgow. My research background is within the field of hybrid materials, especially the class of materials known as polyoxometalates (POMs) and POM-based chemistry. I returned to the Department of Chemistry at the University of Bergen in 2013 with a personal post-doctoral research fellowship from the Norwegian Research Council, where I worked on understanding the formation of MOFs. In 2017 I started as an associate professor at the Department of Chemistry, where my research focus is on polyoxometalate-based science.

I am intrigued by the flexibility and tunability shown by POMs in general, and in particular their application in a number of catalytic processes. With ReCat4Polymer we will be exploring the use of POMs for the production of polymers from CO2.
